How to allow or block pop-ups in Chrome browser
You can control whether to allow or block pop-ups in the Google Chrome browser on your Android device. Here’s how to do it:
- Open Chrome: Launch the Google Chrome browser on your Android device.
- Access Settings: Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the browser window to open the menu.
- Go to Site settings: Scroll down in the menu and tap on “Settings.”
- Access Site settings: Scroll down to the “Site settings” section and tap on it.
- Find Pop-ups: Scroll down to find the “Pop-ups” option.
- Allow or Block Pop-ups:
- To allow pop-ups, tap on “Pop-ups” to access its settings, and then tap the toggle switch to enable it. Pop-ups will be allowed for websites.
- To block pop-ups, tap on “Pop-ups” to access its settings, and then tap the toggle switch to disable it. Pop-ups will be blocked for websites.
- Manage Exceptions (Optional): You can also tap on “Pop-ups” to manage exceptions. This allows you to set specific websites where you want to allow or block pop-ups regardless of your global setting. To add a website, tap “Add site exception” and enter the website’s URL. Then, choose whether to allow or block pop-ups for that site.
- Save Changes: After configuring your desired settings, tap the back arrow or the back button to save your changes and return to the Site settings page.
The Chrome will either allow or block pop-ups according to your chosen settings. Be aware that while blocking pop-ups can help prevent annoying and potentially malicious pop-up ads, some websites may use pop-ups for legitimate purposes. Therefore, you might need to adjust your settings or add exceptions for specific websites if you encounter issues with desired pop-up functionality.
