How to Transfer Contacts from iPhone to Android
Transferring contacts from an iPhone to an Android device can be done in several ways. Here are some methods you can use to transfer your contacts:
Method 1: Using the “Move to iOS” App (For Android Devices During Setup)
- On your Android device, when you’re setting it up for the first time, you will be prompted to transfer data from your old device. Select “Move data from Android.”
- On your iPhone, download and install the “Move to iOS” app from the App Store.
- Open the “Move to iOS” app on your iPhone and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be asked to enter a code displayed on your Android device.
- After entering the code, your Android device will establish a connection with your iPhone.
- On your Android device, select the data you want to transfer, including Contacts.
- The contacts and other selected data will be transferred from your iPhone to your Android device.
Method 2: Using iCloud (For Contacts Only)
This method is for transferring contacts only from your iPhone to your Android device.
- On your iPhone, go to “Settings” > [Your Name] > “iCloud” and make sure that “Contacts” is turned on. If it’s not, enable it and allow the contacts to sync with iCloud.
- Open a web browser on your computer and go to the iCloud website (www.icloud.com).
- Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
- Click on “Contacts.”
- In the Contacts view, select the contacts you want to export. You can select all contacts by pressing Ctrl + A (Windows) or Command + A (Mac).
- Click the gear icon in the lower-left corner and choose “Export vCard.” This will download a VCF file containing your contacts.
- Transfer the VCF file to your Android device using email, messaging apps, or a USB cable.
- On your Android device, open the VCF file. It will prompt you to import the contacts.
Method 3: Using Google Account (For Contacts and More)
This method involves syncing your iPhone contacts to your Google account and then accessing them on your Android device. It works for transferring contacts and other information, such as calendars.
- On your iPhone, go to “Settings” > [Your Name] > “Passwords & Accounts” (or “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” on older iOS versions).
- Tap “Add Account” and select “Google.”
- Sign in with your Google account credentials or create a new Google account if you don’t have one.
- After signing in, enable the “Contacts” toggle switch to sync your iPhone contacts with your Google account.
- Wait for the sync to complete. This may take a few minutes.
- On your Android device, go to “Settings” > “Accounts” (or “Accounts and Backup” on some devices) > “Add Account” > “Google.”
- Sign in with the same Google account you used on your iPhone.
- Once signed in, the contacts will sync to your Android device.
After completing any of these methods, your iPhone contacts should be available on your Android device. Be patient as the transfer process may take some time depending on the number of contacts you have.
